What is MacLance?
MacLance is a Mac, Linux and BSD Specialist Provider service that connects Providers
with Buyers that need custom Programming, Design and Multimedia work done.
Much like an auction, projects are posted and interested Providers bid
on them.
MacLance further provides a service for employers (Buyers) to advertise
for longer term Full Time Programming, Design, and Multimedia Specialists
and allows potential employees to browse these vacancies and submit their
CV's at no charge.
ANYONE can become a Buyer and post projects
and advertise situations vacant on this site regardless of the platform
they are using, or the size or complexity of the project, or the platform
for the programming, design or multimedia vacancy.
How does this work for Buyers?
Once you have signed up as a Buyer you can open a project or post a full
time vacancy by clicking on "Create Project" from the Buyers menu at the
top or bottom of the screen. As soon as you submit the details Providers
will be able to view and bid on the project, and communicate with you
through the Personal Message Boards (PMBs). If you have created a featured
project or advertised a permanent full time vacancy Providers will also
be able to contact you directly if you choose to supply contact details.
You will be automatically notified by email immediately whenever anyone
bids on your projects or posts a message for you in the PMBs.
Posting a Project
You can select as many categories as you wish when creating your freelance
project. We suggest that you always select at least one of the main categories
(Graphic Design, Web Design and Development, Multimedia, Software and
Technology) to ensure that as many Providers as possible receive automatic notification of your project.
Give as full and detailed a description of your requirements as you can
as well as any details of how you wish to pay. (We recommend you use the
free inbuilt escrow service - but you can pay in any way that is agreed
with the Provider.)
Submitting a Permanent/Temporary Full Time Vacancy
You can submit up to 3 separate Permanent or Temporary Full Time vacancies at one time in as much detail as you wish. When you select Perm/Temp Full Time Jobs the featured checkbox is automatically selected. (This cannot be de-selected for this category.) Potential Mac, Linux and FreeBSD Specialist employees will be able to view your contact details in the project description and/or Personal Message Boards (PMBs) if you wish, and submit
their details directly to you, or contact you in any way you choose to
specify.
$5 Fix
This section is intended only for simple easy jobs in any category that
our specialist Providers can complete in a very short time. Please do not post
complicated or lengthy projects here. (If you post a project without checking
the $5 Fix Providers are free to make very low bids if they wish.)
When you post in this section the budget will automatically be set to $5. When you select a Provider $5 will be automatically deducted from your
account and when the job is completed you pay the Provider their $5 fee in the usual ways.
How much does this cost for Buyers?
There is no sign up fee and no monthly fee and projects can be posted
for free, but you are required to give MacLance a commission of $5 on
each project. This will be automatically deducted from your account. There
are no other charges.
Examples:
If you choose a Provider who bid $200 on your project, $5 will be deducted
from your account. There are no further site charges.
If you choose a Provider who bid $30 on your project, $5 will be deducted
from your account. There are no further site charges.
If you create a project in the $5 Fix section and you choose a Provider who agrees to do the work, $5 will be deducted from your account. There are no further site charges. You pay the Provider their $5 fee in the usual ways.
If you decide to create a Featured project or permanent vacancy a fee of
$25 will be deducted from your account when you create the project or permanent
vacancy. There are no other charges for featured projects and permanent
vacancies.
Featured Projects:
You create a featured project. $25 is deducted from your account. You
choose a Provider who bid $200 on your project. There are no further site
charges.
You create a featured project. $25 is deducted from your account. You
choose a Provider who bid $30 on your project. There are no further site
charges.
You want to advertise for a Full Time Permanent Mac Multimedia Specialist.
You click on 'Create Project' and select Perm/Temp Full Time Jobs. The
featured checkbox is automatically chosen. You detail and submit the vacancy
and $25 is deducted from your account. There are no further site charges.
Finally...
As you use MacLance you will quickly find Providers you want to use again
and again. We would ask that you continue to post projects through the site
to help sustain it as a resource for all Buyers and Providers. You can always
post projects for specific Providers or invite them to bid on your project
by clicking on their username, and you will also have the added security
and peace of mind of the free escrow payment system at your disposal.
