What is MacLance?

MacLance is a Mac, Linux and BSD Specialist Provider service that connects Providers with Buyers that need custom Programming, Design and Multimedia work done. Much like an auction, projects are posted and interested Providers bid on them.

MacLance further provides a service for employers (Buyers) to advertise for longer term Full Time Programming, Design, and Multimedia Specialists and allows potential employees to browse these vacancies and submit their CV's at no charge.

ONLY MAC, LINUX AND BSD USERS can sign up as Providers and bid on projects.


How does this work for Providers?

Browse the list of projects posted for the ones you would be interested in, or have MacLance send you an e-mail instantly when a new project is posted that fits under your expertise. Then you can decide if you want to place a bid on the project, and provide details of the work you can do. Communiacte with Buyers easily through the Personal Message Boards (PMBs) or directly with featured listings. Update or retract your bid anytime you want. When the project Buyer chooses a Provider (winning bid) you will be notified. If you are chosen you can begin work on the project and get paid.


Creating a Profile

When you sign up you can select as many categories as you have expertise in when creating your profile. We suggest that you select at least one of the main categories (Graphic Design, Web Design and Development, Multimedia, Software and Technology) to ensure that you are informed of projects that you may be interested in, as well as checking in regularly and conducting project searches yourself. (Or simply bookmark your favourite searches.) Please note that if, for example, a buyer selects 5 categories and you have checked 4 of these as specialties you will not be notified - even if the 5th Buyer category is $5 Fix. Give as full and as detailed a description of your skills, your service, your company and/or yourself as you can to aid Buyers in selecting. You have the facility to upload a company logo but please DO NOT enter any contact details. (If you are a graphic designer it is strongly recommend that you make use of this logo upload facility.)

Whenever a Buyer submits a project that matches categories you have selected you will be notified instantly. You can turn this facility off anytime by logging into the manage account area.


$5 Fix

There are NO SITE CHARGES for Providers accepted to do $5 Fix Jobs. This section is intended only for simple easy jobs in any category that you can complete in a short time. If you think a buyer has posted a project in this section that is beyond its intended scope then please contact us. (You are free at all times to make bids of any value on projects not in this category.)
When you are accepted as the chosen Provider for a $5 Fix Job MacLance will not make any deduction from your account. You will recieve your fee from the Buyer in the usual ways.


How much does this cost for Providers?

There is no sign up fee and no monthly fee. You are required to give MacLance a commission of 5% or $5 (whichever is the greater) on each project you are selected for. This will be automatically deducted from your account. There are no other charges.
